Diona L. Reeves is the owner of Content Visionary,
an editorial and web development company based in
Reno, NV. She has
a BA in Psychology and Business from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, as well
as graduate credits in writing (DePaul University) and counseling psychology (Trevecca Nazarene University, University
of Tennessee). To date, Diona has more
than 30 articles and publications in circulation and
has worked on more than 20 professional websites.
After years of writing and developing websites for others,
Diona decided to put her skills to use in her
own business venture.
In 2006, she formed Content
Visionary to offer
small businesses high-quality
editorial and web services at affordable rates.
Diona draws on more than 10 years of editorial experience, having served as associate editor, publications specialist, editor-in-chief, and freelance writer for numerous publications. Her expertise includes child health and development, psychology, sports, and business writing. She has published both print and online content, written successful grant
applications, and helped promote business relations through press releases, annual reports, marketing materials, and a solid web and print presence.
Diona has always enjoyed writing and working with computers but it wasn’t until her first full-time job with the University of Tennessee Athletic Department that she was able to put these skills to use in a business setting. During this time, she managed correspondence for the Athletic Director and other personnel while coordinating sports-related events and honing her computer skills. Shortly after leaving this position, she began her own data management service and ultimately landed a database administrator position with the Metro Nashville Public School System.
Diona continued to advance her creative skills as well as expand her computer knowledge, eventually taking a job with the Kansas Association of Insurance Agents in 1999. As Director of Communications & Software Solutions, she worked on both the association’s trade magazine and in-house computer network. This job led to a stint as Associate Editor for Professional Roofing, the trade magazine of the National Roofing Contractor’s Association and, eventually, a full-time position with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
While working at the AAP, Diona was promoted from program coordinator to publications specialist, overseeing all publications for the Division of Community Health Services. She not only helped to produce the Healthy Child Care America Newsletter, she also developed publications for the breastfeeding and immunization initiatives, including the Compendium of Resources and Organizations and Breastfeeding: Best for Baby and Mother. Her final project at the AAP was the intensive Community Pediatrics: An Annotated Bibliography, a 46-page publication that detailed studies of community-based pediatric training and curriculum guidelines for medical students and faculty. Through her connections at the AAP, Diona established a strong relationship with the editor of Healthy Childcare and continues to serve as a regular contributor for this publication.
Work at the AAP also led to a position as Editor-in-Chief for a small multimedia firm in Atlanta. Initially hired to manage the AAP accounts, Diona expanded her role to encompass all editorial-related tasks for the firm (including web content, educational curricula, business proposals, contracts, and grant applications), as well as procured and managed several of the company’s high-profile web sites, such as an online alcohol prevention module for the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism and a suicide prevention module for the National Institute of Mental Health. Since then, she has combined her advanced knowledge of online systems with prior database experience to assist other organizations in the development of customized content management systems.
